Is Occupy Wall Street a Cause with a Culture?

Does Occupy Wall Street (OWS) consist of individuals and groups representing divergent interests or is it shaping into a movement with a common goal and purpose?
Is the movement sustainable without a leader or will it frost over with the first winter wind?
Looking for insight on the structure and the future of OWS, I turned to influential activists and political figures.
What I found is opinions that the movement is cohesive, powerful and does not require leadership to move forward.
Activist Shel Horowitz, who has attended both OWS and Occupy Northampton in Massachusetts, finds the movement compares to many that have come before, particularly, in its organization, the Clamshell Alliance of the mid- to late-70s in Seabrook, N.H. The Clamshell Alliance was formed to protest against the building of nuclear reactors in Seabrook; Horowitz was arrested during a protest in 1977.
Like the Clamshell Alliance, “Occupy will produce a culture of leaderless, consensus decision-making,” Horowitz said. “It will galvanize people to realize their own interests are not being served by those in power, and that government and the corporate world have colluded to develop an oppressive and unequal situation.”
Paul Krassner, whose escapades were famously chronicled as one of the Merry Pranksters in Tom Wolfe’s “Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test,” finds a connection between OWS and the Youth International Party (Yippies), which Krassner founded with four others as part of the counter-cultural movement in the sixties.
The Yippies, much like the Clamshell Alliance, was a leaderless organization, reinforcing this point by putting up a pig for their 1968 presidential nomination bid.

1. The OWS is NOT a “leaderless movement”. The “useful idiots” in the streets may not know who the Big Leader(s) are- BUT that does not mean there is NOT a Leader. George Soros, Steve Lerner and Obama/the DNC are behind most of the groups and the $$$$ behind OWS.

Can’t blame just the Dems. The Progressives have taken over the Dem party and infiltrated the Rep party to a great degree. Take the housing fiasco for instance. They try to blame it on Bush but there are videos of Bush and others trying to make Congress regulate it more. Do you think this was not purposely done? Countrywide, Fannie and Freddie. All the people there were experts in the real estate field. Do you think that they didn’t know that selling homes to illegals and others who had no means to pay for them would not cause a disaster? They have stolen our jobs and now our homes and allowed illegals to invade our country and gave them benefits to lure them into doing so. In order to implement the NWO.
And most of the people in OWS don’t even know anything about all this. The people there who are interested in saving this country have no idea how vicious and dangerous the Unions and Communist party can be.
What isn’t being reported about OWS are the rapes going on. People complaining that stuff has been stolen from their tents.People who are so innocent that they thought they could leave expensive IPods etc in their tent and it would be safe.
If they want to change America then let them start with Barney Frank who led the housing slump and even got his boyfriend a job there so he could cash in on the money they left Countrywide and Freddie with. These people should be in prison instead they left with millions of dollars.
They should be aware that Wall St was B.O’s biggest campaign donor and he gave them back their money in bailouts from his stimulus plan.
Every politician should be in jail even if they were only complicit by keeping their mouths shut.

Do they know how many people have been hired by the govt since B.O took office So many that they will insure along with the people on welfare assistance that the Dems will always be in office because they want their jobs and freebies? Do they know we spend billions a yr in welfare, rent assitance, free schooling, free Med Ins. on illegals.
Wall Street and the Unions own B.O. That is why Union people have joined OWS along with the Communist Party.To pretend that they and B.O are against Wall St. But Wall St is still donating to B.O. And now they are setting us up with RINOS as
our candidates in the next election. Romney for instance who’s health plan was a test run for Obamacare. The same thing they did with McCain who took a dive for B.O. If we cannot find a loyal honest America as our next Pres then we can kiss America good bye.

What a great resuroce this text is.
What these protesters have in common is an antipathy towards the Capitalist system. Like Obama, these losers don’t believe that it is fair that some people make a lot of money, while others make very little. They want to level out the playing field by greatly increasing taxes, while increasing govt. spending on the poor and middle classes. This idea has a lot of support, so Obama may win re-election next year by running on a platform of taxing the rich so as to keep govt. benefits high.

I can’t find the article, but they surveyed about 600 of those nutjobs in NYC. 32% called for, “a violent upheaval of our current system”. 98% supported “changing the current system of Capitalism for ‘something else’ “.
I blew the local Occupy movement out of the water one day. Me and my cousin had just taken another evil black rifle off the streets, and decided to hear them out. With one question, I shut them up, and then was heckled.

Of course, Marxism is the mother of political correctness, so we should not be at all surprised that the protesters operate under the same ideology.
Marxist thinking can be summarized by this simple explanation:
There are two kinds of people in a society, the victims and the oppressors. Anyone who sees himself as a victim (i.e.: a victim of “corporate greed’) must rebel against the established authority (i.e.: capitalism).
Part of the problem with Obama is that he is so conversant with Marxist thinking that he sees himself as the victim! Just listen carefully to his speeches: Its the oppressors’ fault: Bush, the Republicans, the rich…it goes on and on.

These OWS children need to learn the message of the “goose that laid the golden egg.” While it may well be true that some large corporations do indeed not have their best interests at heart, most are where the jobs they need come from. If they think killing capitalism will end their joblessness, they have a rude awakening coming if they succeed!
The thing about Free-Market Capitalism…if a corporation IS bad and DOES provide inferior product or service…WE get to “vote” AGAINST them by NOT shopping and NOT doing business with them.
Under Free-Market Capitalism THIS would put the bad companies out of business while rewarding the good companies.
BUT when Gov. via Marxism gets in the way they tax and regulate GOOD businesses out of business and reward (Solyndra) BAD businesses with Gov. contracts, subsidies and tax BREAKS.
